Gold Sox fall to Neptune Beach

There was no comeback this time.

One night after rallying back from a four-run deficit over the final two innings to earn a victory, the tables were turned on the Marysville Gold Sox on Friday night in a 10-5 loss to the Neptune Beach Pearl at Appeal-Democrat Park.

Marysvillle took a 4-1 lead heading into the fifth inning, only to see Neptune Beach score nine unanswered runs to come away with the win.

The loss snapped Marysville's five-game winning streak.

The Gold Sox struck first when Justin Lamb doubled and came into score on a ground-rule double by Colby Harrison in the second inning. Justin Charles then knocked in Harrison with a single to put Marysville up 2-0.

Kyle Davis connected for a two-run double in the fourth to put Marysville up by three, but was downhill from there.

Neptune Beach scored three in the fifth to tie the game and rallied for four more runs in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Johnny Rubino added an RBI groundout in the ninth to complete the scoring. Lamb finished the game with a pair of doubles.

The two teams will play the rubber match of the three-game series today at 7 p.m.
