Letter: Twisted logic to budget management

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

So let me get this straight: California is hurting in the areas of gas, foreclosures, employment, and the like. Somehow, in the midst of this, the governor has decided to sign an executive order to make 200,000 state workers go to minimum wage, which would bring less money into the economy while putting those workers behind in their bills. Whose idea was this?

Like everyone that works, I rely on that check coming in to pay for gas, food, rent/mortgage, etc. I cannot tell my local gas station, day care, or grocery store to take an IOU, or, like we are being asked to do, take a reduced price, for the same item.

If they are wanting to create cash flow, here's some thoughts: Make criminals have no TV for a couple of months instead of the taxpayers paying for their cable TV; get those people and businesses that owe back taxes to pay up; or, of course, the lawmakers could stay in the buildings, with cots, until they pass the budget!

Leave those of us alone who are actually earning their paychecks.
