Linda man accused of soliciting 3 girls at Olivehurst park

A Linda man was jailed Thursday, accused of soliciting three young girls for sex in front of a patrolling Yuba County sheriff's deputy.

"He apparently didn't see the deputy there," Sgt. Joe Million said.

Agustin G. Rodriguez, of the 1400 block of North Beale Road, Linda, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of annoying children, a felony. He remains in custody without bail on an immigration hold.

Million said the 42-year-old attempted to proposition three girls — ages 18, 12, and 10 — at Johnson Park in Olivehurst near the sheriff's deputy.

Rodriguez may have tried to solicit other girls at the park, as well, authorities said.

Deputies were called to the park around 6:30 p.m. to investigate a man in a gold-colored Mazda 626 sedan. Witnesses told the investigator the man, later identified by the deputy as Rodriguez, was trying to coax young girls into his vehicle.

The deputy spotted the Mazda a short time later and overheard Rodriguez allegedly propositioning three girls.

"He said he was confused about their age," Million said Friday.

Sexual solicitations are illegal regardless of a person's age, the sergeant added.
