Gold Sox drop road contest
Wednesday, June 14, 2005 - The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox still can not find a way to win at Travis Credit Union Park in Vacaville.
The Solano Thunderbirds improved their record to 8-1 over the Gold Sox when playing at home after pulling out a 2-1 victory in the bottom of the 10th in a nonseries game. The Gold Sox last win over Solano in Vacaville came on August 5, 2003.
The Thunderbirds hold an all-time record of 13-6 over the Gold Sox.
The loss broke Yuba-Sutters' season-high six game winning streak, dropping them to 9-4 on the season. The Thunderbirds improved to 3-2 overall.
Brian Shoup knocked home Timothy Brewer in the bottom of the 10th with a single to end the game off losing pitcher Jason Peters.
Brewer tied the game in the seventh inning with an RBI single.
The Gold Sox broke scored first in the third inning after Billy Sanacori broke his 0-for-10 slump with an RBI single that brought home Johnny Norfolk, who led off the inning with a single.
Sinacori, who entered with a .103 batting average, hit another single in the fifth inning with Norfolk aboard, but this time Norfolk was thrown out at the plate after trying to score from second.
The Gold Sox Steve Alverson started his first game in a year and a half, pitching a scheduled three innings, allowing one hit, while fanning two and walking two.
