Gold Sox announce coaches
The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox collegiate wood bat baseball organization announced Wednesday the signings of assistant coaches Chris Terry and Jason Dana.
Terry returns to the Gold Sox after a one-year absence. He will take over hitting coach duties for Ryan Tash, who accepted an assistant coaching position at California State University, L.A., and will coach first base.
Dana will be the pitching coach, taking over for Jack Johnson.
“(Terry) is a super hitting coach, has good structured drills and has the ability to pick apart different problems each hitter is having and work on those individually,” Gold Sox manager Brad Peek said. (Dana) will be a great fit and teaches good technical aspects of pitching.”
Terry is currently the head varsity baseball coach at Sheldon High in Sacramento, while Dana is a coach at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.
“Chris is not going to break a guy down over the summer because their college coaches wouldn't like that, but he will fine tune hitting and try some different things,” Peek said.
The Gold Sox also return athletic trainer Eric Lambert, who is currently the head athletic trainer at Yuba City High.
“Eric is perfect because he takes care of all the physical and psychological problems for the players and coaches,” Peek said. “I lean on him heavily.”
