Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club

Venerable Plumas Lake, the granddaddy of Yuba-Sutter courses, has survived its share of hardships.

Those include floods in 1986 and 1997, the latter of which wiped out the clubhouse, a heat wave in June 2006 that destroyed all its greens and a fire that wiped out its fleight of golf carts in October 2008

The clubhouse was rebuilt, the greens have been replaced and expanded, carts replaced, and at under $40 with a cart on the weekdays, the course remains a great bargain.

Mature oaks line the fairways, and in the case of the par-4 No. 8, one sits right in the middle, forcing you to play one side of the green on your second shot. There are no lakes on the course, but a drainage canal comes into play on 12 holes and can collect balls, especially on No. 10 when it runs parallel to the fairway.
