Letter: Which is it: More or less government?

Pat Hill's Nov. 4 letter ("Make government work for the people"), disjointed though it may be, appears to be promoting even more government in our lives than we currently have.

First she takes the banks to task for controlling our money (I thought it was making our money grow further), then she takes on Wall Street for creating too many rich people (I thought we were the land of opportunity).

Then she claims that government and capitalism should work together for all the people like our founders intended — apparently excluding all banks and Wall Street investors.

You can't have it both ways.

It seems to me that "all people" would even include those who manipulate the money in our society.

The only sensible observation in her letter was the final paragraph wherein she asks the question "when will we learn to use the gift our Founding Fathers gave us?"

Now, assuming she is referring to our constitution, I would reply "From your lips to God's ears."

And, oh, by the, our form of government is a "republic," not a "democracy."
