Gridley teen dies in apparent gang-related shooting

A Gridley teenager died Tuesday, a victim of an apparent gang-related shooting earlier this week, police said.

Alonzo Robles-Morales died at Enloe Medical Center, less than a day after he was shot in the head, according to the Gridley-Biggs Police Department.

No arrests have been made, Chief Gary Keeler said Wednesday.

“We’re working on some leads, but there’s not a lot I can tell you right now,” Keeler said.

The 18-year-old Butte County resident was shot around 7 p.m. Monday near Cedar and Indiana streets, Keeler said.

Police believe Robles-Morales was shot once in the head with a .22-caliber firearm.

Investigators have confirmed a gang motive for the shooting, but said they have not been getting a lot of cooperation from people they’ve interviewed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gridley-Biggs Police Department at 846-5678.
