Richard H. Storm

Richard Henry Storm, 79, of Gridley died March 7, 2007, at Biggs-Gridley Hospital in Gridley.


Born in Klamath Falls, Ore., he was a longtime Mid-Valley resident.


He was a farmer in Butte County.


He was a 1945 graduate of Gridley High School and received a degree in agriculture from the University of California, Davis.


He served as president of the Butte County Farm Bureau, Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and Red Top Rice Dryers; and director of the Biggs West Gridley Water District, Farm Credit and Sunsweet Advisory Board.


In addition, he was voted Farmer of the Year in 1969 by the Butte County Fair Board and served as an elder at the Presbyterian Church in Gridley for several years.


Also, he served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant from 1951 to 1953.


Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Alice Buckner Storm of Gridley; two sons, Terrell Storm of Biggs and Brett Storm of Gridley; two daughters, Paula von Husen of Davis and Patrice Taylor of Washington, D.C.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.


Donations may be made to the Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital or the First Presbyterian Church in Gridley and left in care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley.


Services: Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Sycamore and Kentucky streets, Gridley, with Pastor Nick Sorani officiating.
