Maudie R. Cardwell
Maudie Ruth Hammons Shields Cardwell, 97, of Marysville died Sept. 24, 2006, at Lincoln Manor in Lincoln.
Born in Muscota, Kan., she was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 80 years.
She was a chief telephone operator at AT&T, working for 35 years.
She was a member of Crossroads Community Church, the Telephone Pioneers, the 39ers and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Ann McDougle of Marysville; and a brother, Alfred A. Hammons of Marysville.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Shields and Mac Cardwell; a daughter, Loraine Ruth Shields; three sisters, Mabel Christman, Melva Wellman and Lexie Bingham; and two brothers, Rosco Hammons and John J. Hammons.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Services: A service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery.
