Faith in action: ‘We try hard to live what we believe'
Name: Sam and Amanda Bliss.
Age: He's 30 and she's 31.
Family: Four children, Andrew, James, Hannah, Hailey.
City of residence: Marysville.
Occupation: Amanda is a full-time student at Liberty University; Sam is a diesel mechanic at Sierra Pacific Industries in Lincoln.
Hobbies, interests: Amanda: "Church ministry and our kids. Running four around is enough (work). We like camping. We like baseball. We went to a couple Gold Sox games and the kids play baseball." They also like swimming at Amanda's parents' home.
What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? Sam grew up in Loma Rica. Amanda was the fourth generation to go to Marysville High School and has lived in Marysville all her life.
Place of worship you attend: Loma Rica Community Church.
How long have you attended? Sam has attended since 1990; Amanda for 13 years.
What is the importance of faith in your life? Amanda: "For us it's everything. It's peace. No matter what hardships we face; no matter what trials we go through; we have peace because we have someone to guide us through it."
Sam: "It permeates everything in our life. It affects our day to day life like, our hobbies and interests. We try hard to live what we believe. We're not perfect but we try."
How do you live out your faith? Amanda: "We try to live out our faith by choosing to make decisions that are pleasing to God and trying to instill those values in our children."
Sam: "I lead a men's group ministry. It' s about accountability to the commitments we make."
