Boyfriend accidentally runs over Yuba City woman
Woman listed in critical condition at Redding hospital
A Yuba City woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her boyfriend accidentally ran over her on Sunday in Shasta County while driving a Freightliner semi-trailer truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
Deronda Gail Harris, 50, was listed in critical condition on Monday after Gregory Dwayne Gross, 56, thought she was walking into a Chevron gas station to use the restroom at 2:50 p.m. in Cottonwood.
Gross turned his truck around, towing a two-axle flatbed trailer, the CHP said.
Gross, after completing the U-turn, found Harris badly injured in the roadway where it appears she was run over by the right-side tires of the truck and trailer.
It appears Harris had been behind the semi's sleeper berth in front of the rear axles on the right side when she was struck, the CHP said.
An ambulance took her to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Drugs and alcohol were not a factor and no one was cited or arrested.
