Letter: Health care council details its position

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Health care reform has been a very hot topic recently. There has been much passion but little fact-based discussion as Congress rushes to pass a document few have fully reviewed. The Yuba-Sutter Healthcare Council has been involved in the health care reform discussion since 2007. We are pleased to announce that the initial version of the Yuba-Sutter Healthcare Council's position paper has been posted online: Blueprint for an Effective and Sustainable Healthcare System. A letter with the key points of that paper has been provided personally to Congressman Wally Herger.

The documents can be viewed at http://tr.im/yshealthreform.

We welcome any thoughts from the community and wish to remind everyone that our meetings on the third Friday of every month are open to the public. We encourage A-D readers to send the link or the document above to any and all interested parties. When Congress reconvenes in September, they are likely to be discussing health care reform in a different way. If they hear from enough of their constituents, maybe they will consider these suggestions from our community.

Dr. Larry Ozeran

Chair, Yuba-Sutter Healthcare Council

Yuba City

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
