Foot-notes on marysville
About two dozen people took a step back in time Sunday to tour old Marysville, learn about its past and support the preservation of the city's illustrious history.
The tour, sponsored by the Friends for the Preservation of Yuba County History, took people down D Street, pointing out various interesting but little-known facts about the city's past.
The walk was part of the Art Chautauqua event sponsored by Amicus Books of Marysville. The Chautauqua was a popular arts, education and entertainment movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
“It was nice hearing others open up their stores and telling us about the history of those stores,” said member Judy Mann. “People who come along have their stories to share, too.”
The idea was to get more people to join the group and to preserve the history, she said.
