DeLuz homer lifts Marysville past LO
Matt DeLuz belted a two-run homer to rally Marysville majors baseball team past Live Oak, 5-3, in the District 2 all-star tournament on Thursday.
DeLuz's homer came in the bottom of the fourth with Live Oak leading 3-1. DeLuz also picked up the win, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out eight in five innngs. Gary Paradis worked the sixth for the save.
Pat Smith was 2-for-3 for Live Oak. Israel Garcia struck out nine in taking the loss
Westside 4, Colusa 2
Steven Perry drove in a pair of runs, the second in Westside's key fifth-inning rally, to upend rival Colusa. Tyler Wells got the win, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five in five innings. Jake Driver struck out three to get the save.
Darren Swearinger suffered the loss despite striking out 10 in six innings. He and James Bowen each had an RBI.
MINORS
Marysville 11, North Yuba 0
Hayden Mejia started and closed out the game on the hill, eliminating North Yuba on a combined three-hitter Friday.
Mejia pitched the first two innings and then the fourth.
David Santana had two hits and an RBI. Cody Pack doubled. Jaylon Deas also knocked in a run.
Jordan McMartin, Alex Lindsey and Jordan Littlefield had North Yuba's hits.
Sutter Buttes 13, South Sutter 3
Justin Noreen hit a two-run homer as part of a three-hit, six RBI day to lead Sutter Buttes. Brandon Marler got the win.
Cody McBride had two RBIs and Taylor Elkins got three hits for Sutter Buttes.
Tommy Sleva hit a home run, Allen Farmer had two RBIs and Adam Driver had two hits for South Sutter.
