Fire damages Corning home
Tehama County, CalFire and Corning firefighters responded to a house fire at 21709 Gallagher Ave., at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday that destroyed about a quarter of the home.
CalFire Capt. Matt Sisneros said that according to a preliminary investigation the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.
The owners of the home are Bruce and Kit Thomas, and they were not in the residence when the fire started, said firefighters. Sisneros said firefighters were able to "save more than what was lost." Destroyed were two bedrooms and a bathroom.
CalFire reported the early 911 call from a neighbor helped save the home from further damage. PG&E had to respond due to downed power lines. Firefighters had the blaze contained in about 45 minutes.
