Letter: Nearing the last straw with president
The Senate, the Senate, the Democrat-controlled Senate!
On Jan. 1, the Congress avoided the "fiscal cliff." But how'd they do that? Answer: After stonewalling the House since August, the Senate just "suddenly" changed the HR 6 Bill (passed in August by the House) to their liking. Then, using the first sentence in HR 6 only, sent it back to the House on Dec. 31.
The House was in the position of passing it (with no spending cuts in it) or be blamed for the awful consequences to follow us over the cliff. What drama, what gamesmanship. All to demonize the Republicans. So much for senators in Washington caring about us little guys.
Now we have another "crisis" coming over the debt ceiling. The president and his minions in the Congress are suggesting he bypass Congress and just raise the debt ceiling himself (a clearly unconstitutional act.) I fear he just might do this, since he has clearly no respect for the other branches of government and has defied the Constitution before.
Sending warplanes into Libya without congressional approval, changing immigration law, covering up Benghazi deaths, and now, even promising a gun ban on law abiding citizens: All beyond a president's authorized powers.
The more I observe this current president and his willingness to ignore the Constitution, the stronger the word "impeachment" comes to mind. I can only hope it doesn't come to that. But raising the debt limit without the House will be for me, the last straw!
