Letter: Relocation information sought
In May and July 1942, hundreds of Japanese Americans from Yuba City and Marysville were forced to depart on trains from Marysville for the Tule Lake Relocation Center near the Oregon border.
This event, at the beginning of World War II, came after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed Executive Order No. 9066 prohibiting Japanese Americans from living on the West Coast of the U.S.
I am looking for either Japanese or non-Japanese who were there and remember where the trains were parked in Marysville when the Japanese Americans boarded in May and July 1942. Please call me at 519-0468 and help me document this historical event for the Japanese leaving Marysville for the Tule Lake Relocation Center.
