Political Briefs: Griego, Whitmore support T

Two local government officials have added their endorsement for Measure T.

Yuba County Supervisor Mary Jane Griego and Marysville City Councilman Dale Whitmore are in favor of the measure "Preserve farmlands and open space."

Sutter County

Munger endorses Heckman

Sutter County Supervisor Larry Munger has endorsed Sarah Heckman for Superior Court judge in Tuesday's election.

"Sarah is very intelligent and she's an upstanding citizen in our community," said Munger in a prepared statement. "I think she'll do a great job for us."

Heckman was also recently endorsed by Sutter County Superior Court Judge Chris Chandler.

Heckman and local attorney Jud Waggoman are vying in a runoff to fill the judge's seat being vacated by retiring Judge H. Ted Hansen.

Wheatland

Elphick backs McIntosh, West

Outgoing Wheatland Mayor Enita Elphick is endorsing incumbent City Council members Lisa McIntosh and Rick West for re-election in Tuesday's election, and challenger Joe Henderson.

The city has three council openings. The city's mayor is nominated and elected of and by council members.

Yuba City

Ceremony honors diabetes day

A luminary lighting ceremony in honor of World Diabetes Day is planned 6-8 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Yuba City Town Center Fountain, at B Street and Plumas Boulevard.

Luminaries are available for purchase for $2 each.

Participants are asked to wear light blue.

Hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Children's Type 1 Diabetes Support Group and Resource Center, the event includes a hand-holding ceremony to honor those battling the disease.
