What is your latest project? Kelsey's Kids toy drive, through Dairy Queen, for Children's Hope Foster Family Agency that benefits children in this community. The toy drive is a lot of work, takes a lot of time, but when you give them the donations, it's really a neat feeling.
Where do you get your news? The newspaper.
What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? My husband. I'm from Indiana — I flew out to a friend's wedding and ran into him. I've been here since 2003.
What do you miss about your old hometown? My family. And it's a little slower-paced back there.
What do you like about the Yuba-Sutter area? All the recreational stuff and the weather.
What is the closest you've been to a famous person? Tim and I are fans of the band REHAB and have met the lead singer. One time, we got there early for a concert in Sacramento and were eating at the same restaurant. They sat at the table next to us, and we chitchatted.
What would you do with a million dollars? Get my parents set up, wherever they want to be.
What is your dream vacation? I would like to go to Ireland — I have always found it beautiful, intriguing.
Who has had a strong influence on your life? My older sister. She's always been my go-to person — when I need advice or just to laugh.
Do you have a memory to share? I share stories with my daughter about my grandmother Alice. She passed away when she was 62. I was 18.
What would you like to see different in the community? Money in our schools, more support for our educational system.
