What brought you to the Mid-Valley area? I am a fourth-generation Colusa County resident. This June will be the 118th family reunion for the Pearson-Lausten family. The family has never missed a reunion or canceled one, not because of war or weather or the stock market.

What's kept you in the area? My dad and I and my kids have all graduated from Maxwell High School. I went to Chico State, was an exchange student in Brazil for six months.

Where would you live for a year? Some place with a warm beach. We've taken the kids to San Felipe, Mexico, every year for 25 years.

What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I shook hands with Clint Eastwood at a restaurant in Carmel when he was mayor.

What would you do with a million dollars? Farm until it was all gone.

What is your dream vacation? Just my wife and me at Cabo. Last year was the first time just the two of us went on vacation without the kids.

Who has had a strong influence in your life? My mother, and my wife. They are strong persons.

Do you have a favorite memory to share? All the camping and hunting with my parents and my kids. I'd rather the kids remember time with me, not what I gave them.

Favorite places in the area? Local lakes and rivers such as Oroville, Shasta and Sacramento.

What would you like to see different in the community? More light industry, more jobs for our youth.

What is your pet peeve? People driving without headlights on in the fog.

What do you like about yourself? I'm positive, optimistic.

What are you reading right now? Chris Kyle's "American Sniper."
