Letter: What's happened to Christian values?

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I have difficulty understanding individuals who profess to be Christians but seem to forget all about their Christian values when they enter the voting booth. How can they justify voting for candidates who are pro-choice and believe in gay marriage? What happens to their Christian values? It is time for a refresher course on the Bible. You know, that's the book that generally sits on the shelf collecting dust!

Open it up and check out God's commandments, especially number five of which condemns killing. This includes killing of the innocent unborn. Killing of the embryo by abortion is gravely contrary to the moral law. Of course, we hear that it is not a human being, it's just a mass of cells or a blob. Interesting isn't it that when a pregnant mother is murdered, it is now a double homicide, no longer a blob. Talk about hypocrisy.

Marriage is between a man and a woman not between two men or two women. Read Matthew 6:4-6. Homosexuality is also contrary to the moral law. Check out 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

These folks justify their choices for selecting a candidate because they will help the economy. I'll admit the economy is a problem; however, I guarantee that when these individuals come face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ he is not going to ask them for their bank statement or a copy of the latest stock market report before he allows them to enter the gates of heaven.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
