LOCAL ROUNDUP: Yuba College volleyball continues BVC dominance
Marysville, RV soccer win; YC takes draw
The Yuba College volleyball team continued its impressive run in the Bay Valley Conference with a 3-0 victory over Napa Valley on Wednesday night in Napa.
The 49ers stayed undefeated in BVC play with a 25-15, 26-24, 25-12 victory over the Storm. Yuba (14-1, 8-0) was down 23-16 in game two before mounting a comeback to claim the set.
Brenna McDonald and Katie Olson both recorded 10 kills and a service ace to lead the 49ers. McDonald added two digs.
Katie Reiland amassed eight kills, Emily Toledo put up seven kills and Angela DeHaan added four kills.
Libero Shaila Gidel was solid with 10 digs and two aces, while setter Sam Foster dished out 33 assists to go with three digs and an ace.
Yuba continues BVC play at home on Friday night against Mendocino.

Marysville 6, Mesa Verde 0
In Marysville — Thomas Mehler scored three goals and Eddie Medina, Nelson Vejar and Alfredo Real added a goal each to lift the Indians past the Mavericks in a Golden Empire League match at Marks Field.
Freddy Terriquez dished out two assists and Erik Tinoco made five saves in goal to notch the shutout for Marysville (9-5, 3-3).
River Valley 3, Natomas 0
In Yuba City — The Falcons rebounded from Monday's tough loss to Pioneer with a shutout victory over the Nighthawks in Tri-County Conference play at Falcon Stadium.
Brandon Blancas, Jesus Garcia and Castulo Carvajal all scored goals for River Valley (8-1-2, 5-1-1) in the victory.
RV's JV team won 3-1.
Yuba City 1, Pioneer 1
In Woodland — Michael Chavez scored on an assist from Omar Gonzalez just 30 seconds into the match, but the Honkers had to settle for a draw in their TCC contest against the host Patriots.
Victor Alcantar made several great saves in goal, including one at the end of the match to preserve the tie for Yuba City (7-4-3, 4-2-1).
