Honkers still perfect in Tri-County action
Katie Dailey had 30 assists, Eryn Kirby had 13 kills and Yuba City High's volleyball team improved to 17-3 overall and 4-0 in Tri-County Conference play Monday with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-13 over Inderkum at Honker Gym.
Danielle Holmes had nine kills and Abbie Haymore added five kills and three blocks for the Honkers.
Yuba City's junior varsity team won 2-0.
Golden Sierra 3, Lindhurst 0
Lindhurst (2-1) suffered their first loss, falling to the Grizzlies by scores of 25-20, 25-7, 25-11 in the Golden Empire League match.
Lateric Johnson had six digs and three kills, and Chong Her added five digs in the loss.
Capital Christian 3, Marysville 1
The Indians lost a tough match with scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-21.
Kandice Herkert had 10 kills, two blocks, three digs and four aces for Marysville (6-5 overall), who fell to 2-2 in the Golden Empire League.
Brooke Neault had 11 digs while Chelsi Ferrari had 14 assists.
Faith Chr. 3, Paradise Adventist 0
Ashley Stephenson led the way for Faith Christian (4-4) with 25 service points, five aces and two kills.
Stephanie Sluder had five kills and a block for the Lions, who won with scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-8.
FIELD HOCKEY
Yuba City 2, River Valley 0
Jamie Wenham scored both goals for the Honkers (2-2) in a Eastern Athletic League match over the host Falcons.
River Valley fell to 0-6 on the year but showed vast improvement after several double-digit losses, according to coach Rebekah Carlson.
Lauren Kent, River Valley's goalie, had 20 saves on the day.
GIRLS GOLF
Honkers take second
Haley Holloway had the match-best round again with a 79, leading Yuba City to a second place finish during the first Tri-County Conference tournament at Rio La Paz golf course.
Five teams attended the tournament, but only Yuba City and Pioneer had enough girls to qualify scores. Pioneer came in first with a 523, while the Honkers shot a 547.
Jessica Oakman shot a 102 for the Honkers, followed by Rachel Martin (106), Samantha Bendorf (120) and Pavan Baines (140).
JV FIELD HOCKEY
Yuba City 4, River Valley 0
The Honkers picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-3 on the year.
Alandra Paniagua scored two goals while Amarpreet Johal and Jasmin Mercado each added a score.
River Valley coach Monica Quilty said Dallas Ness and Melissa Correra each played well defensively.

Faith Chr. 2, Paradise Adventist 0
Kynsie Lovell had 18 service points, nine aces and four kills to lead Faith Christian (4-4) with wins of 25-12, 25-21.
FROSH VOLLEYBALL
Yuba City 2, Inderkum 1
Krizzia Hernandez and Katie Haymore led the Honkers over Inderkum with a 15-11 win in the third set.
Capital Christian 2, Marysville 0
The Cougars won the Golden Empire League game 25-15, 25-20.
Karah Kimmerly and Katilin Mazzei each played well for Marysville (7-9, 2-1).
