Sutter volleyball sweeps Paradise, rolls to 8-0 start
Junior setter Kari Post had 17 assists and seven kills, leading the Sutter High volleyball team to a victory over Paradise on Tuesday and an 8-0 start to the season.
Sutter won in three, 25-12, 25-20, 25-11.
Sarah McReynolds had 10 service points, nine kills and five digs, while Angela Ohland added eight kills and four blocks.
Wheatland 3, Colusa 0
Mia Hill knocked down 11 kills and Shazakia Poe-Lyde and Sara Courtright added six more apiece as the Pirates (3-0) remained undefeated with a nonleague match in Colusa.
Rebecca Green set up the action at setter with 22 assists. Poe-Lyde added nine defensive digs and 14 service points.
Alice VanFleet had seven digs and six blocks for Colusa.

Faith Christian (0-2) lost a tough match with scores of 25-22, 28-26, 25-22.
Cami Bicknell served 100 percent and had 13 service points, while Stephanie Sluder had four kills.
Biggs 3, Live Oak 1
Biggs (2-5) got a home win behind Judy Saefong's seven assists and five digs. Scores were 25-20, 25-16, 22-25, and 25-19.
Cathy Bryant added eight assists in the win.
East Nicolaus 3, Esparto 0
With scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-20, East Nicolaus earned their first victory on the year.
Alissa Smotherman had 19 assists, and Alyse Uhland had seven kills and three aces to lead East Nicolaus (1-2).
East Nicolaus won the junior varsity match, 2-1.
Inderkum 3, Marysville 2
Candice Herkert had eight kills, five digs and two aces but it wasn't enough as Marysville lost a tough match 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 15-11.
Sarah Walls had 10 kills and Brooke Neult added 10 digs.
Yuba City 3, Pleasant Valley 1
Yuba City moved to 3-0 behind Katie Daly's 41 assists and 11 digs to lead Yuba City to a road win with scores of 25-19, 25-16, 21-25 and 26-24.
Eryn Kirby had 13 kills and three blocks while Abbie Haymore added 12 kills and three blocks.
GIRLS TENNIS
Sutter 9, Colusa 0
Sutter remained undefeated after traveling to Colusa and taking all six singles and three doubles matches.
Melissa VandenHeuvel continued her great play with a 6-1, 6-3 win followed by Joanie Klever (6-4, 6-2), Kristen Ward (6-1, 6-3), Chelsea Stallings (6-2, 6-0), Katie Chapman (6-2, 6-4) and Taylor Franco (6-2, 4-6, 6-3).
In doubles action, VandenHeuvel and Ward teamed up for an 8-6 win, Stallings teamed with Klever to win 8-4 and Franco teamed with Allison Olivera for an 8-4 victory.
Yuba City 8, McClatchy 2
The Honkers (4-0) had another dominant performance from Shannon Cassidy (6-0, 6-1) to get things started against McClatchy on the road.
Others singles winners were Madeline Stephens (6-0, 3-0 retire), Breanna Wallace (6-0, 6-1), Helena Lancaster (6-7, 6-2, 7-6) and Maribel Pabalan (6-1, 6-1).
Madison Bevacqua teamed with Miranda Martinez to win the first doubles match 6-0, 6-0 followed by Manjot Grewal and Lauren Iverson (6-3, 6-1) and Lyndsey Galownia and Aimee Perry (8-2).
Orland 7, Live Oak 2
Kiran Jhutti won the first singles match 6-4, 6-2 for Live Oak (3-2) but it went downhill from there.
Colby Lavy (6-4, 6-1), Mackenzie Keyawa (6-2, 6-3), Vanessa McGwire (7-5, 6-1), Allison Cochran (6-4, 7-6, 7-5) and Christell Brewster (6-1, 6-3) all won their singles matches for Orland.
Cooper teamed with Lavy to win the first doubles match, 8-5, for Orland followed by McGwire and Miki Sutton (9-7). Rogers and Avalos teamed up to win the final doubles match for Live Oak.
BOYS SOCCER

Two goals by Cody Wells couldn't help Faith Christian overcome three second-half scores by Victory Christian.
Will Dunlap had an assist for Faith Christian (3-3).
JV BOYS SOCCER
Bear River 5, Marysville 1
Edgardo Terriquez scored the loan goal for Marysville in a nonleague loss.

Sutter won with scores of 25-14 and 25-7. Their freshmen team won with scores of 25-12 and 25-14.

Laura Thorpe served 100 percent and has 17 service points and seven aces, but Faith Christian (0-2) lost with scores of 15-25, 25-22, 12-15.
Biggs 2, Live Oak 0
Biggs went to 1-1 on the year with wins of 25-11 and 27-25.

MEN'S SOCCER
Yuba 0-3
The 49ers (0-5) are still looking for their first win of 2006 after losing three games at the Cabrillo College tournament over the weekend.
Dominic Brooks scored the lone goal in a 5-1 loss in the opener to Cabrillo on Saturday, then Yuba lost a couple of hard 1-0 decisions over the next two days. Chabot scored late in the second half, and Feather River got its goal in the final two minutes of the game.
