Indians sweep Falcons at home

Kandice Herkert had 13 kills, three aces and two blocks and the Marysville High volleyball team defeated River Valley in three games Monday at the Indians' Lesta Joubert Gymnasium.


Marysville (4-2) won with score of 25-20, 25-18, 25-16.


“We consistently served well and got a lot of kills,” Marysville coach Chris Abruscato said. “There was not much blocking or digging, but the girls just terminated the ball.”


Anquanette Taylor added eight kills and two blocks for Marysville, and Chelsi Ferrari added 29 assists.


No information was available for River Valley.


Yuba City 3, Roseville 0


Katie Dailey 35 assists and eight digs led Yuba City to wins of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19 to finish the nonleague schedule with a 10-1 record.


Danielle Holmes had 12 kills, Eryn Kirby had 11 kills and Abbie Haymore added seven kills and four blocks in the win. The Honkers start Tri-County Conference play on Thursday at Pioneer.


Yuba City's JV team also won 2-0, while the freshmen team lost 0-2.


Sierra Chr. 3, Faith Chr. 2


Faith Christian suffered a heart-breaking loss as they fell in five games with scores of 14-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 16-14.


Cami Bicknell served 100 percent for Faith (1-4) with 15 points and one ace. Stephanie Sluder added eight kills in the loss.


East Nicolaus 3, Biggs 0


Freshman call-up Juliet Conant had seven kills and four aces in her first game at the varsity level to help East Nicolaus (2-3) to wins of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-17.


Alyssa Smotherman had 18 assists and Ann Wimple had five aces in the victory.


JV VOLLEYBALL


Marysville 2, River Valley 0


Marysville rolled over River Valley with scores of 25-13 and 25-15.


Faith Chr. 2, Sierra Chr. 0


Kynsie Lovell served 100 percent with 11 service points and five aces to lead Faith Christian (1-4) to their first win on the year with scores of 25-17 and 25-14.


FROSH VOLLEYBALL


Marysville 2, River Valley 0


Led by Karah Kemmerly and Kaitlin Mazzei, the Indians beat River Valley with scores of 25-19 and 25-15.

The 49ers committed 20 unforced errors, and the Panthers went on to win the nonconference game 30-24, 30-18, 30-26.


Mariza Quihuis finished with five kills, four digs and two aces for the 49ers. Krystle Wolcott added four kills and two digs, and Melissa Chapman had three digs, two kills, two blocks and an ace.
