Engagement: Kirkpatrick/Bates

Yuba City residents Christine Kirkpatrick and Nathan Bates plan to wed Sunday at Gar Woods on the Lake on Carnelian Bay, Lake Tahoe.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Steven and Nancy Kirkpatrick of Yuba City. A 2007 graduate of Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts, she is studying childhood education at Yuba College.

Her fiancé is the son of Kenneth and Deborah Bates of Yuba City. A 2004 graduate of Faith Christian High School, he works as a welder for Local No. 228, Yuba City.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
