Engagement: Kirkwood/Calkins

Katie Kirkwood and David Calkins Jr., residents of Las Vegas, plan to wed Oct. 20 at the home of her uncle, Craig Land, in Angleton, Texas.

The future bride is the daughter of Melissa Kirkwood of Houston, Texas, and the late Michael Kirkwood.

She is an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a labor/delivery medical nursing technician at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Her fiancé, the son of Michele Calkins of Sutter and David Calkins Sr. of Yuba City, is a 2007 graduate of Sutter Union High School.

He is a senior airman serving with the 820th RED HORSE Squadron at Nellis A.F.B., currently deployed to Afghanistan as a civil engineer.
