Three Cheers letter: ‘Thanks and blessings to all'

How do I begin to express a very special "thank you" to all the generous people within the Yuba/Sutter counties ...

Each year the CHP's CHiPS for Kids program have many giving people who provide money and toys to ensure needy children will have a Merry Christmas. This year was no exception; with the assistance of the Appeal-Democrat, instead of helping 450 children, the CHP was able to provide for more than twice that number. Following a story appearing in the Appeal-Democrat that donations were very low, the community responded generously with gifts of warm winter clothing, bicycles, toys, and gift cards for teens. And the gift distribution with the Salvation Army was a huge success because of those so willing to give.

Also, a big "thank you" is extended to Target and the Appeal-Democrat for their assistance with our CHiPS for Kids Christmas shopping event earlier in December. The Riverside Restoration Church in Linda chose the 13 children who were then paired with a CHP officer or a senior volunteer for a morning of shopping. Many of the children wanted to buy presents for family members or chose items such as toothpaste and a toothbrush or school supplies. It was evident that each law enforcement member was blessed by this experience, as was the child and their family.

Thanks and blessings to all who gave so generously that those less fortunate could have a merry Christmas.
