Three cheers letter: Officers association thanked for Pig Feed

On Sept. 15, the Yuba City Police Officers Association held its first Pig Feed, and a sold-out crowd of supporters turned out in appreciation for this wonderful group. While the association did all the hard work, including many months of planning, they generously chose to share their proceeds and presented a $4,000 check that night to the FIT Foundation Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program to help support local families in need this Christmas.

The association has "adopted" families in the past, but they took their commitment to helping the neediest in our area to a new level this year.

Families served through the Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program are identified and referred through county agencies, departments and schools to be matched anonymously with donors who receive specific information about the family's needs and wishes.

The funds received from the Yuba City Police Officers Association will help ensure the program can continue to serve the families referred.

We sincerely thank the Yuba City Police Officers Association for their generosity. We also invite others in the community who desire to participate by being matched with a local family in need this Christmas to call 790-7554.

The generosity of the Yuba-Sutter community is truly amazing.
