Letter: So-called ‘change' gouging taxpayers

On April Fools’ Day, the state sales tax went up, and the car license tax increased. And guess what – food stamps benefits increased by more than 13 percent.

The taxpayers are being gouged. Retirement funds are crashing. Home prices in Yuba County have gone down more than any place else in the nation. Jobs are disappearing. But folks who get food stamps get 13 percent more, all paid for by those of us who are being driven into the financial pit.

Let’s have more of “change we can believe in.”
