Letter: Not all the 'losers' have same chance

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I think first and foremost we should all take a moment to thank the Lord that Kari Nicole is not a physician (June 24 letter, “Stop the insanity; cut off the losers”). I guess Kari has not recently thanked the Lord for her metabolism. Not everyone starts off on the same foot.

I am an ex-smoker who loved to smoke. I quit for my health, but the very first thing I am going to do upon my terminal diagnosis is race to the 7-Eleven and get me a pack. I loved those smokes.

This is simply none of Kari's business. I am slightly overweight, I work out 30 minutes a day on the treadmill (adjacent to my rat hole) and I go to the gym every day for a workout.

Low and behold, my diabetes is still there. I still work for a living and have since 1969, but when this disease does its damage, regardless of my efforts, I will need some help.

Hopefully Kari will not be the decision-maker should I need to ask for help.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
