Letter: What can be done to tame site?

Surrounded and harassed at 3 a.m., we were forced to leave with our children from Little Grass Valley Campground.

I ran across a letter to the editor this morning reading the newspaper and decided to put my experience in as well.

Our family has been camping at Little Grass Valley for many, many years. It has been an experience we all looked forward too, to get away, relax and enjoy nature.

Until our second night, in Loop C at the Little Beaver in Little Grass Valley, it was 3 a.m., we were surrounded and an intruder unzipped our tent, and we had to awaken our little children and scurry to our vehicle scared, the intruders surrounded our campground in pitch dark and we were left helpless and without help.

We drove around searching for a park ranger or host, and none were there. We drove to La Porte and contacted the police, and it took them over an hour to get there.

People are completely taking advantage of this. It used to be safe haven.

Our family will no longer be camping there and skipping it in our future family expansion.

This saddens me terribly. Why isn't there park rangers and hosts at every campground? We need protection.

What can be done?
