Galaxy Fight Night IV to feature nine local fighters
The adrenaline-pumping local event is back again — featuring more Yuba-Sutter fighters.
Galaxy Fight Night IV is bringing one of the biggest MMA fight cards with more local fighters to the cage than ever on Saturday.
Nine Yuba City residents will take to the cage in a 12-fight card, where they face off against opponents from Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento, Chico, Roseville and Chico.
Locals Juan Tovar, Aaron Britt, Jon Childress, Roger Gonzalez, Daniel Maupin, Kristen Costa, Joshua Perillo, Robert Payne and Jacob Pupo will all appear at Champions Indoor Soccer Arena in Yuba City.
Galaxy is also featuring its first female MMA bout — Sacramento's Arlene Culbreth vs. Stockton's Anntonette Bernal.
The Galaxy 155-pound title belt will also be on the line with Pupo taking on Cameron Wright of Stockton. The fight is a rematch from October when Pupo won by split decision in Titans Cage 4.
However, the main event of the evening will consist of 18-year-old Benito Lopez (4-0) of Oroville vs. Travis Whiteley of Sacramento in the 135-pound championship bout.
The event will open its doors at 5 p.m. the at arena, which is located at 301 Burns Drive. The first fight is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. The event can also be viewed at www.icblivetv.com.
This is the fourth event in the Galaxy series.
Tickets can be purchased at Galaxy Boxing in Yuba City.
