Political Briefs: Taxpayer group approves of Logue

The California Taxpayers Association has given Assemblyman Dan Logue a perfect score on tax and public finance issues.

Logue, R-Loma Rica, said in a press release he appreciated the recognition, given the association's work in protecting taxpayers against out of-control taxation and legislative proposals harming the average individual.

The press release did not state on which bills Logue voted to receive the high score, and the group's website did not have tabulation of legislator votes in 2012.

Logue is running for a final two-year term in the Assembly this year, as well as in a special election for the 4th State Senate District seat.

Maan endorses Walsh

Rick Walsh's bid for a Yuba City City Council seat got a boost this week with an endorsement from Councilman Tej Maan.

Walsh, making his first run for a council seat, received Maan's endorsement because he's got the attributes necessary to be a good councilman, Maan said. "I think he has a great sense of business, an open mind, and that he'll work for the people," Maan said. He added, "He will not give into special interests, and I think some other candidates are for special interests."

Five candidates are running for two City Council seats in this election.
