• What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? My parents and I moved to Gridley from Punjab, India, when I was 4.

• What keeps you in the Yuba-Sutter area? My family and friends

• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I have had the opportunity to meet Magic Johnson as well as current and former governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown.

• Favorite television show: "Law and Order," "Sports Center," anything on The History Channel.

• Favorite sports team: Boston Celtics, Atlanta Falcons

• Favorite quote: There's a few I really admire. "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear — not absence of fear" — Mark Twain; "Fatigue makes cowards of us all" — Vince Lombardi.

• What was your first job? Bin boy for Breeding Farms.

• How would you describe yourself? Outgoing, friendly

• What kind of pets do you have? None, but I have had many failed attempts at trying to keep a goldfish.

• What was your favorite/least favorite subject in school? Favorite was, strangely, math and history. Least favorite was keyboarding.

• What are your favorite places to go in Yuba-Sutter/Mid-Valley/Sacramento area? I recently discovered few small theatres which put on live productions.

• Do you belong to any clubs or organizations in the community? Yuba City Kiwanis Club and Yuba-Sutter LEAD Alumni.

• What are some of your fondest memories? Working with my father.

• What are your favorite foods? All. I like trying different ethnic foods. I'm also a sucker for a good taco truck.

• If you were in charge, what would you change about the community? Better infrastructure for future growth and more recreational facilities for children.

• What was the last good book you read? I just started reading "The Kite Runner."

• Favorite book: "Things Fall Apart."

• Favorite movie: There are many, but "Gladiator" is definitely one of my favorites.

• What is your worst fear? Not making a significant enough contribution as a human being.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
