Alice S. Manuel
Alice Santos Manuel, 87, of Live Oak died Dec. 2, 2006, at her residence.
Born in Colusa, she was a longtime Mid-Valley resident.
She farmed rice and prunes with her husband and son.
A 1937 graduate of Maxwell High School, she also graduated from San Francisco Beauty and Cosmetology School.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gridley; Rice Grower's Association of California; Farmer's Rice Co-op; Valley Nitrogen Producers; Sutter County Farm Bureau; Sunsweet Growers; and Uniao Portuguesa Protectora do Estado da California.
In addition, she was a former member of the Mercy Guild; The Hedger Club in Live Oak; and the Live Oak Women's Club.
Survivors include a son, Bert Manuel of Yuba City; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Bert A. Manuel; and two sisters, Viola Blanchard and Mary Lucena.
Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
Services: Visitation starts at 1 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., at Chapel of the Twin Cities in Yuba City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Ave., Yuba City. The Rev. Miguel Silva of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gridley will officiate.
