Letter: Mired in a depression

As I read, listen and watch the news, I am depressed by what is going on in our state. Our governor needs to be recalled like Gray Davis was. I notice too many houses in foreclosure and empty buildings where businesses have closed their doors, and we have too many people unemployed. Also, too many of our people cannot sell their homes because the real-estate market is so depressed.

We need to downsize or eliminate many if not all our agencies which are killing our economy. Too many businesses are leaving California for business-friendly states, because California's environmental agencies are too Gestapo like in how they overregulate and unjustly penalize, causing businesses to struggle to earn a reasonable profit. Without the tyranny of excessive inspection fees, permits, licenses, fines and high taxes, California's businesses would prosper and create more jobs and stay in California.

Unfortunately, California is a huge liberal welfare state and we have too many ignorant voters who put back in office those who vote for more freebies at taxpayers' expense.
