Marisa Vang

Name: Marisa Coua Vang.

Age: 17.

Hobbies, interests: Singing, dancing, reading, traveling, watching TV.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? South Korea — I like the lifestyle over there: the music, the clothes, the feeling of being independent and in control of my own life. I will hopefully get to meet all the K-pop stars that I admire, too.

If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? My family's happiness and well-being. Even if I were far away from them, as long as they are able to live a content life with little worries, then that would make me one of the happiest people in the world.

Whom do you most admire? My older sister — Despite her many struggles to success, she never gave up. She is my motivation to try harder and to continue my studies because I want to be able to catch up to her one day.

What kind of pets do you have? Several goldfish and a turtle.

Do you belong to any clubs or organizations in the community? I am involved in many clubs at school and, in the community, the Interact Club, which is a branch under the Rotary Club.

What are some of your fondest memories? When I was a sixth-grader and our school was able to participate in Woodleaf (now Shady Creek). We went during the winter, and there was so much snow covering the trees. My cabin mates and I loved shaking the snow off the tree branches. Thinking back to these memories makes me feel so youthful once again.

What makes you laugh? I have been known as a happy person, so I generally laugh a lot. You can usually catch me smiling to myself whenever I remember back to something funny.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I would want to have the teleportation superpower. It would make it easier for me to get to places, and I wouldn't need a driver's license. Since I love traveling but don't always have the money to do so, teleportation would make it more convenient for me to get to tourist attractions faster and with less worry about cost.

What was the last good book you read? "The Housekeeper and the Professor" by Yoko Ogawa.

Favorite book: "Conversations Between Us" by Solangel.

Favorite movie: "1 Litre of Tears."
