Quiñones delivers in 8th

Another game, yet another victory for the Marysville Gold Sox.

Tito Quiñones drove home the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Gold Sox rallied back to earn an 8-7 victory over the Nor Cal Longhorns in a wild game at Appeal-Democrat Park on Friday night.

Marysville trailed 7-6 heading into the eighth before scoring two runs to complete the come-from-behind victory.

The Gold Sox trailed by two runs twice on the evening, but fought back each time to improve their record to 26-3 all-time against the Longhorns.

It was also the fourth straight win for Marysville (31-10), which was won nine of its last 10 games.

Colby Harrison had an RBI double in the first inning, and Johnny Rubino and Victor Romero drew consecutive bases-loaded walks in the second to give the Sox a 3-1 lead early.

The Longhorns scored four runs in the third to take a 5-3 lead, but Tim Lewis smacked an RBI double and Justin Charles added a run-scoring single in the bottom half of the inning to tie things up.

Nor Cal scored twice in the fifth, but Brooks answered with an RBI single later in the inning to cut the lead to 7-6.

The score remained the same until the eighth when Romero singled with one out before coming around to score on a throwing error. Quiñones then drove in Harrison in what proved to be the game-winner.
