Letter: Is it subtraction by addition?

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

As a resident of Browns Valley, I have no standing in Marysville's decision to turn over Washington Square to a developer.

However, the fact that we enjoy much open space and big oak trees on our place makes me sad for the people of Marysville who soon will have to leave town to find similar surroundings.

With all the vacant stores in Marysville, I do not see how the city can justify giving up Washington Square to build still more.

The development on the corner of 9th and B streets destroyed (in my opinion) the walk-way and the view of Ellis Lake and the new buildings can't seem to retain tenants.

My understanding is that CVS Pharmacy, Tri-Counties Bank and Radio Shack will move into the new digs leaving their current locations empty.

How is it better to have still more vacant stores in Marysville?

Paul Baker

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
