Letter: It's high time people drive American cars
Comments 0 | Recommend 0I own a 2006 Lucerne Buick, which I purchased from Dow Lewis here in Yuba City three years ago. When I drive from Yuba City to Los Angeles I will drive at the speed of 75 mph. Almost everyone is passing me, but I always get 29 miles per gallon. Today, some of the Buicks are getting up to 35 mpg.
Pontiacs are getting 35 mpg, and their G5 gets up to 37 mpg. The Ford Focus will get 34 mpg, and the Chevrolet Malibu will get 33 mpg. The Chevy Cobalt gets up to 34 mpg.
Now I don’t think that is bad at all. Also, I hear that gas prices may soon go down to $1. For years I have always said, “If I get paid in yen I would drive Japanese cars, but when I get paid in dollars, I will buy American.” If there is ever a time we need to buy from the “Big Three,” it is now. At least visit their dealerships and see for yourself.
By the way, I am not in the automobile business, just a concerned citizen.
