Attempted murder charged in separate incidents

Two men face attempted murder charges after separate incidents involving alleged stabbing and strangling Wednesday night in Yuba City.

After someone called at 10:47 p.m. to report a disturbance, officers went to the 1300 block of Gray Avenue and heard screaming coming from an apartment. Inside, they found a woman bleeding heavily, said police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey.

Officers saw a suspect, identified as Elias Regalado Murillo, fleeing and pursued him on foot. When Murillo jumped over a wall at the nearby Target store, officers were waiting and arrested him, just 11 minutes after the disturbance call was received, said Pavey.

A knife that Murillo allegedly used was found in the apartment.

The victim, whose identity and relationship to Murillo were not disclosed, apparently did not suffer life-threatening injuries. No information on her condition was available Thursday.

Murillo, 21, who lives in the 800 block of Walton Avenue, allegedly was waiting in the victim's apartment when she returned with her child.

Besides attempted murder, Murillo was arrested on suspicion of burglary, false imprisonment, spousal assault, child abuse and terrorizing.

In a separate incident, officers went to the Days Inn, 700 N. Palora Ave., at 9:55 p.m. when someone reported screaming coming from a room. A man and woman answered the door and told officers everything was fine and that they had just been arguing, but the woman had obvious bruising, said Pavey.

Later, the woman, who was not identified, said the suspect, 34-year-old Adisorn Joe Tyrrell of Sacramento, was strangling her and threatening to kill her.

Murillo and Tyrrell both were awaiting booking Thursday at the Sutter County Jail.
