Commission covers museum history

The Tehama County Heritage and Historical Records Commission made a presentation about the history of the Tehama County Museum, its archival role in the county and its ongoing re-organization during its first quarterly meeting held on Jan. 17 at the museum.

"The (commission) includes in its membership individuals interested and active in preserving and safeguarding the 'stuff' of Tehama County history. It deals, in part, with issues of locating, identifying and ensuring the safety and usability of official records within the county," Commission Chairman Marvin Locke said.

Activities of the commission are coordinated by county Clerk-Recorder Bev Ross.

At the meeting, a special emphasis was placed on the importance of all museums in Tehama County: the Red Bluff Fire Station No. 2 Museum; the William B. Ide Adobe State Historical Park; the Charles Krause Aviation Museum; the Red Bluff Round-Up Museum; the Corning Museum; the Kelly Griggs House Museum; the Manton Museum; the Gaumer's Mineral & Mining Museum; and the Tehama County Museum.
