Letter: Let's put faith in new president

This past election may have been a disappointment to some, but I’m pleased with the results, and am willing to give our new president a chance. I voted for him without regard of his race, his poise, and graciousness his intellectual curiosity and suppleness of mind persuaded me that he could do the job.

As he moves on into the American presidency, the economy’s problems for him will be greater than any faced by a incoming president since Reagan in 1980. The dimensions of this current economic falloff are striking and with enormous challenges ahead facing him.

Instead of doubt, be optimistic; instead of hate, show compassion for our new president. The economy is at the bottom of the pit, and Obama has the rope to pull us out. We don’t have any other choice now, but to support him at least for he next four years. Because if he fails, the country fails – that’s you and me. Let’s hope that the youthfulness and vitality in the White House will reflect on the country. So it’s not where he starts, but rather where he ends that count. He could become one of the better presidents along the way
