Letter: College district needs new board of trustees
I’m writing in response to the Yuba Community College District’s chancellor’s pay raise that has now been rescinded. Hip, hip, hooray to the students, teachers, employees, and members of the community who voiced their opinions about this unjustly pay hike.
I don’t understand what the board of trustees was thinking when they thought, especially now, that this was such a good idea. They should now hold a meeting with the students of Yuba College and ask them what they would like to see done with the now-extra $30,000 they have in their budget. Let’s see - maybe lower the cost of books or tuition, or maybe bring back a teacher or two who might have been laid off recently. I’m sure the students and even the faculty members have some fantastic ideas what that money could be used for.
I agree that a new board of trustees is needed, and this time they need to have a board that puts the students first and not themselves.
