50th Anniversary: Scheiber
Nicolaus residents Ronald and Vreni Scheiber, the former Vreni Kastlunger, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with festivities today at the Dante Club in Sacramento.
In September, they were named as Grandparents of the Year at the Nicolaus Labor Day Parade.
The couple were married Nov. 10, 1962, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Imperial Beach and are longtime Yuba-Sutter residents.
Born and raised in Nicolaus, he worked at Made Rite Sausage Company in sales for many years and the Victor Sausage Company and Venturini Meat Company.
After retiring in 1999, he became a walnut farmer. A musician for 55 years, he plays the clarinet, saxophone and accordion at Swiss functions in the Sacramento and Modesto areas as well as the Bay Area.
She was born and raised in Chula Vista. A homemaker, she also worked as a librarian and account clerk at East Nicolaus High School for 17 years before retiring in 2003.
She plays golf weekly at River Oaks Golf Club in Nicolaus.
In addition, they enjoy traveling, taking part in several group tours in the US, cruises and trips to Switzerland.
They have three children, Michele Khazaepoul and Cindy Gander, both of Nicolaus, and David Scheiber of Dixon; and eight grandsons.
