• Eighth-graders enjoyed their recent field trip to the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay on the Sacramento River in Redding. Students studied the cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge along with the Exploration Park containing environmental, art and history museums.

• Patty Fortna's fourth-graders are learning how to give back to our community by collecting donations for our local SPCA.

• Winter break is Monday to Jan. 6.
