Tierra Buena Elementary School
Yuba City
• Today the fourth-grade classes of Vicki Miller, Alison Miller and Linda Eamer are taking their field trip to the Sutter Buttes.
• In honor of Presidents' Day, there will be no school on Monday.
• Next week, the fifth-grade classes of Amy Camburn, Cynthia Sharp and Maria Smith will be at the Outdoor School at Shady Creek, leaving on Tuesday and returning Feb. 15.
• Wednesday will be a minimum day for first- through eighth-grade students. Students will be dismissed at 12:22 p.m. and, unless they attend the Eagle Center, will go home at that time. Kindergarten students will have their typical day. Staff will use that time for student evaluation and planning.
Butte Vista School
Yuba City
• Librarian Molly Cannell has kicked off the annual The Six Flags reading program. Students will participate in recreational reading and receive free admission tickets for their efforts.
• Heather Reed in the After School Program is conducting an anti-bullying assembly from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday.
• Students just finished their in-class spelling bees. Each classroom winner will compete in the school-wide spelling bee on Feb. 20.
Lincoln Elementary School
Yuba City
• Monday is a school holiday in honor of Presidents' Day.
• On Tuesday the fifth-grade classes of Wendy Graham, Kristi Jacoby, Anna Piper and Rosie Vasquez leave for Shady Creek Outdoor School. They will be attending with Tierra Buena School and will return Feb. 15.
• On Friday the second- and third-grade students will have their awards assembly to recognize academic progress and good citizenship.
Luther Elementary School
Live Oak
• Explorit Night, sponsored by UC Davis, will be presented Feb. 21 at the Luther School cafeteria. Numerous staff and parent volunteers will conduct science projects.
