Sutter North

Bereavement group to meet

Registration is being accepted through Oct. 10 for a six-week bereavement support group sponsored by Sutter North Hospice.

The support group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 15 to Nov. 19. Participants must attend all six sessions.

The meetings will provide education and information on grief and loss, teach coping skills and provide a place to express feelings.

Yuba City

Free screenings set at health fair

Free medical and dental screenings and nutrition and diet facts are part of the third annual Yuba-Sutter Binational Family Health Fair set Oct. 12 at the Richland Housing in Yuba City.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 420 Miles Ave.

Information will also be available on services such as affordable housing, job openings and training, legal and social services and the Mexican Consulate.

The event, sponsored by Del Norte Clinics Inc., is in conjunction with the Health Initiative of the Americas planned Monday to Oct. 15.

Colusa

Lactation counselor training upcoming

A five-day program to train lactation counselors, sponsored by the Center for Breastfeeding, is set in December at the Colusa Casino Community Center.

Topics in the certificate training program include breastfeeding techniques, problem solving strategies, feeding cues and the benefits of breastfeeding.

The program is from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8 to 12. The cost is $675; continuing education credits are available.
